Seasons and Rhythms are meant to be an aerial view of one year of Gospel Community life.
One year is important because it represents the commitment we ask from Gospel Community members. Every member commits to a Gospel Community one year at a time when the launch plan is revisited. At the end of the ministry year, each member and group have the freedom to choose how to proceed next. They can:
(1) continue on
(2) multiply into two groups
(3) transition to a different group
Seasons and Rhythms also create space for your Gospel Community to:
Every calendar year is split into three seasons and each season represents a period of time in Gospel Community Life. Usually, the Fall and Spring seasons have a similar feel, schedule, and content for discussion. Summer is often varied with many Gospel Communities adjusting their approach.
The key to each season is to find a rhythm that will maintain momentum going into the next one. The lists below are designed to help you maintain that rhythm. Click the toggle arrows to learn more!
Fall [Sept-Dec]
Spring [Jan-May]
Summer [June-Aug]
**Create a Launch Plan** [Aug]
As a default, we'd encourage Gospel Communities to discuss the Discussion Questions created each Sunday after the sermon. This is a great way to be in sync with the larger church and allows you to prepare for discussion with minimal prep time. In addition, there is no homework prep for members.
Another option is using the Swedish Method with the sermon text. It’s a great way to stay founded on the Bible, in sync with our weekly preaching, and allow the text to permeate our life.
Other content options include using Sermon Application Questions, Christianity Explored, Gospel-Centered Life, and Gospel-Centered Community. There may be other books or books of the Bible that can be considered. If you'd like to talk through options you're considering, please contact Josh Mathews.
